March 25th 2002

On Monday the 25th of March 2002 @ 02:31 am the Pasco County Enhanced 911 center received a call for a reported commercial structure fire. Pasco County fire Engine 12 and Rescue 12 arrived first at scene 6 minutes after the call was received. Engine 12 reported flames coming from the south end of the roof area of the Lakeview Rodeo.

A second alarm was immediately called for. The initial crews placed a 2 1/2 inch hand line in-service at the south end for exposure protection. The second due engine company arrived and established a water supply from the nearest hydrant. Upon arrival of the third due Engine and Rescue, 2 - 1 3/4" hand lines were placed in service to begin an interior attack.

The first in Battalion Chief arrived and called for a third alarm. The building was deemed fully involved and the decision to move to a defensive attack was made. The first in ladder company from New Port Richey placed an elevated stream in-service toward the south end.

The fire was considered under control at 4:30 am, 2 hours after the initial 911 call was placed. Crews remained at the scene until 15:30 hours for extensive overhaul.   
In all 50 personnel were utilized along with 8 engines, 2 ladders, and 15 support vehicles. Mutual aid was received from the cities of New Port Richey and Tarpon Springs. Building damage was estimated at $300,000.
